I would like to know about specific things like good food, clubs, local music scene, unexpected costs, various local customs, etc. No need to go on and on about how expensive it is or about the weather - I can figure those things out on my own.

San Diego is great. As far as clubs go you will hear mainly of two places..."Garnett Ave" and "Downtown/The Gaslamp". Garnett is down in Pacific Beach and is more of the shorts and flipflops laid-back places to go out. Downtown is going to push cover charges on you and usually a dress code. I definitely prefer PB.
As far as the music scene, you will catch a lot of local bands down in PB and Coors Amphitheater is your local concert venue.

If you want to buy a house out here, you better have a lot of money. Rent shouldn't be a problem unless you're a starving student.

The weather here absolutely rocks and the people in San Diego are very laid back, mellow, and friendly to newcomers. We also have a lot of underrated tourist hot-spots that are cool places to hang out.

If you need more info., email me at shan83181@cox.net. I live 30 min. from San Diego (and I was born there, too).

You'd better be rich. Otherwise, nice place, beautiful buildings, perfect weather year round. Watch out for Mexicans. Most are okay, but some are crazy and will steal your ID and take advantage of your kindness. If you are wary, rich, and basically happy, you will love San Diego.

Very expensive to live in, but the weather is ideal! Multicultural and classy. Everything is a short drive away... you have the beach, mountains, desert (where I'm at), and Baja. My family and I have dreamed of living there, but the cost of living is outrageous.
