It depends on what sort of table:

Excel - Right click on the column letter you want to insert before (if you want to insert between A and B right click on B) and select Insert

SQL - (At least MySQL) "UPDATE tableName ADD COLUMN x {SETTINGS} BEFORE columnName"

HTML - you have to change the whole table and add columns on each row or colspans to the appropriate

Don't forget Word.
Click on the table in your Word document to select it. Click on Table at the top of the screen and then point to Insert, then click on the option you want.

on some table programs.. you click on the column you want the new one next to.. and click on Insert/Column... then select whether you want it before or after the current column.

You would have to unload the table, drop it, then re-define it with your new column, then reload it mapping the "old" fields to the "new" ones. Most place just add it to the end of the table because of this time-consuming procedure.
