Well I guess it's a little unusual now but I have an elderly aunt named Fannie Belle. She is and always has been my favorite aunt. She always conducts herself with poise and grace but has the most incredible sense of humor. I love her so much!
Thanks for making me think of a wonderful lady today.
Oh, by the way only her friends are allowed to call her Fannie Belle, to her acquaintances she is Fran.

I don't know where you live but that is a french name... Here in Montreal a lot of people are named Fanny, it's normal lol

No, it is not weird. Fanny is just a shortened version of Francis. Frankie, Fran, and Franny are also used.
