There is no set 'easy' way. Learning to play the guitar (or any other instrument) is a very subjective process. I advanced very quickly whereas my friends who have been playing for the same amount of time have not.

I would start by taking lessons. You can find tutors in the yellow pages or by enquiring in guitar shops. Also, buy guitar magazines (Total Guitar is best) and learn how to read the tablature.

Your guitar can either have a positive or an adverse effect on your progression. Make sure you try before you buy. Make sure it's light, the neck is thin, smooth and fast and that it's not uncomfortable to play.

It will take a long time and a lot of dedication from you. Make sure you have the time and will to practise every day. At some point or another you will want to smash your guitar against the nearest wall but as long as you keep practising you will eventually get to where you want to be.

Quite frankly, get yourself lessons. You can often come across BRILLIANT instruction manuals, but they cant tell you what you're doing wrong or help you put if you're stuck.

If you really don't want to go through the malarkey of lessons, teach yourself tab and chords, its the easiest way to learn.

But the most improtant thing is to get a DECENT guitar. GFollow the advice that other people have given on this issue, because whatever i say about it would just be going over ground that has already been covered and youve alreadt read, and i dont want to bore you!

Get a decent guitar and buy some good instruction books and learn notes and chords. Then practice a lot and don't allow yourself to get frustrated. Go to chord house guitar room on google search and make it one of your favorites and start off by learning easy to play songs. Once you have learned to change chords quickly and smoothly, you will be able to play hundreds of songs. After learning basic guitar skills, get some books on guitar tabs and you can learn to play some cool guitar riffs.

Depends on how good you want to get there is no easy way, you just got to practice and pactice.

But I would advise going to a tutor and learning. That way you don't learn to many bad habits that you have to change later.
