YES!
The only difference I can really tell in the diapers is the outside is more plastic-like then cloth-like, but not completely plastic. Maybe just not as soft on the outside. They don't leak though, and that is the important part! (I buy Target brand)
I don't know about the formula because I didn't try it. Our pediatrician said it is fine, they are regulated by the government to meet the same standards as non-generic. Ask your baby's doc about that.

I don't know about the formula, but with diapers, I think it depends on the baby. You have to try different ones. A relative recommended White Cloud diapers because they were cheaper and worked great for her son, but every one of them leaked when we tried them. We tried Luvs and Pampers, but they leaked too. The only ones we've tried so far that have worked for us are Huggies and the Walmart brand (Parent's Choice). The Huggies fit a little better, so we use those at night (when she'll be in the diaper for longer times) and use the Parent's Choice (which are about half the price) during the day. You just need to experiment a little.

Yes I think that generic diapers are just as good as brand names. I don't buy anything else. I've tried Luvs and they leak every time. Where generics seem like they would hold the hoover dam if it broke. I've never tried generic formulas before I've always used Similac w/Iron, Nestles good start. They were what agreed with my baby. I also breastfed my babies until they were a year old. That's the cheapest it also help I get to be a stay at home mom. Most mothers are not that fortunate.

I feed my baby Similac Advance and tried the WalMart brand that said "Compare to Similac Advance" and it constipated her. I will NEVER try a generic formula again!!
As for diapers, I have purchased many different brands of diapers. I prefer Huggies just because I like how they fit, but I haven't noticed that generic brands are any less absorbent. There is a brand called B&J that makes size 1-2 diapers, they are good priced and fit just like Huggies. I also really like the White Cloud because they too fit like Huggies. I have also tried the WalMart brand and although they seem as absorbent as the others, they don't fit my baby well, I would compare them to Luv's which also do not fit my baby.
Soooo....I guess my opinion would be..when it comes to nutrition, don't skimp...when it comes to diapers, buy whatever fits right!

I've found the Babies-R-Us brand of diapers to be superior to a few of the name brands. (They lack an "overnight" diaper, but the price is good and their diapers and pull-ups have given us no problems)
I don't know on the formula.

Formula...yes. Because it's a food, it has to be approved by the FDA for proper levels of nutrition. But even name brand diapers aren't all equal. My sister swears by her Target brand diapers. But the only diapers my daughter has been able to wear have been Pampers. My first three all wore Luvs.

I have a two month old, and generic diapers seem to work alot better. I buy the target brand. As for formula I stick to enfamil. You want to make sure he is getting all his vitamins, and you never know what generic may leave out.......maybe that is why it is so much cheaper.

when i have had to use formula, i have used the store brand with no problems. my kids have had a tendency to break out in rashes with the generic diapers, so i don't use them. i stick with luvs...just a dollar or two more and they are a ton more leak proof. if you look at the store brand formulas, the majority of them are produced by wyeth labs and will have a comparison chart of the nutrional information for their formula and a name brand like enfamil. before you switch formulas, make sure it is ok with your pediatrician to make that kind of change in your baby's diet.

You cant buy cheap formula in the UK so perhaps that speaks volumes.
Diapers though, I found that some worked better than others at different ages, my daughter was on the cheaper ones for the first 6 months because theyworked better than the name brand, but then we switched to Pampers as they worked best after that

when my son was younger he was on WIC, so i couldnt get generic formula; but when he got older i used the walmart brand for older babies, and he took it fine. It didnt bother his stomach, or give him gas, so i'd recommend the walmart brand.
As for the generic diapers, leakage!! I've tried luvs; leaked, smiles;leaked, parents choice; smelled horrible. Even huggies arent as good as pampers. Huggies hold the pee but nothing else. the only diapers i get are pampers.
