Does anyone else think that the high emphasis on money and wealth and personal gain in music (namely mainstream rap) hurts more than just the industry? It seems to me that young high school kids get into all that stuff because it's cool but it's at a time when they'll determine their personality for a long time and it turns them into violently selfish sex fiends. Although it can be found in all genres rap seems to be the worst with the gold fronts and Cadiliacs and guns and diamonds. Wouldn't it be a lot better if most of that money went back into the economy? That's why I've always favored punk bands and became a buddhist at a young age.

My advice for anyone who is sick of all that also is to listen to some good punk, it's always comforting to me to think that there are at least bands out there who agree. I can't give enough praise to bands like Bad Religion or Operation Ivy.

i totally agree... rap songs usually lack of depth, and the things that they focus in are stuff that would be considered superficial or that is plain wrong..

having lots of money is fun, it sucks to be poor. I think that money goes back into the economy when they buy grillz and cadilliacs, guns and diamonds. The last time I checked, its legal to own a gun too.
