I live in NYC I plan to spend way more there. Like right now on the basics, dividing by all the days in a month, daily is about 225.

I would take only a small backpack with just a few clothes and really comfortable sandals. I would try to get a package plane fare that would take me to all of the islands. I would get a bus pass for any island that has bus service. I would try to get to know someone who belongs to a sailing club. I would get as much money as I possibly could into a bank account with ATM service and not carry much with me at any one time. I would be friendly and open to opportunities, but not too flirtatious in general. Most people are ok, but there are some dangerous ones. Do not try to sleep out on the beaches. That is a real good way to meet unfriendly teens. Look for hostels and make friends there. Don't be afraid to try new foods, Hawaii has lots of strange things to eat, but I never got sick there. I went for a whole summer, sublet an apartment and just did two islands, I had a wonderful time, no real hassles of anykind, good luck! Oh yeah, and don't turn your back on the ocean, it can jump up and grab ya...

For two months...are you counting living accomodations in how much money to bring? If you do touristy stuff, plan on at least $100 a day for any day you do tourist stuff. Keep in mind that EVERYTHING is more expensive there...so, however much it costs you to live here, add 20-40% (depending on where you currently live)/

On which island are you staying?

A couple of great things to do in Maui:

Go to Warren and Annabelle's Magic show in Lahaina. It sounds lame, but it is one of the most entertaining shows I have ever been to.
Drive from Lahaina to Hana. Make sure to get a guidebook that tells you where all the great waterfalls are. I recommend Maui Revealed.
Go Horseback riding in the Haleakala Crater.
Go snorkeling, but not in Molikini...it is a waste of money. Also, don't bother with SNUBA, but maybe get SCUBA trained if you're not already.
Relax and have fun!

If I went I would have brought my friends along with me cause it's no fun without friends to hang out with. But nonetheless, I would bring at least 20,000 (of my parents money!!) and I would try to soak it all in and have a general all around good time. If I ended up finding a cute hawaiian guy and hanging out with him alot, I wouldn't mind, as long as I dont take it to the next level. i would partyed all that I could so I could get it out of my system and go off to college !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
