Ok many people of the Jewish religion side politically with the left. Yet is the American political left that beats up on Israel for taking military action to defend itself in the region? Its the American political right that backs up Israel in such cases. So why is it that most American Jewish followers continue to side with the Democrats (left) in politics? This makes no sense unless those in America of the Jewish Faith are far different from those in Israel where 90% support the current military action?

Beverly I don't mean to stereotype and did not imply "all" believe this way; but I do believe its safe to say the majority of Jewish Americans support the Democratic Party and yet that party would cause the Israeli nation the most harm and often calls for their capitulation which gets them no peace in return?

Yes, approximately 80 percent of Jews are Democrats because we were slaves in a strange land and because the goal we are all working toward is peace on earth. We have been an oppressed people for 2000 years and we will always support the needy and the oppressed.
It is vital that everyone understand the history of the Middle East conflict beginning with the Ottoman Empire. Here's a quick read:

The Democrats currently in office are mostly supportive of Israel, but it is very frustrating that the far left wing is so anti-Israel. Perhaps the Democrats could get back in power if the Cindy Sheehans would take a back seat for a while.

That is a great question. One I ponder myself at times. I think that many Jews living in the U.S. are prone to be more secular, making it easier for them to follow liberals and their beliefs.

Generally, Democrat=liberal=tolerance;Republican=conservative=non-tolerance. That's rather simple, but you get my meaning.
