Unless you are a fundamentalist Muslim, women can play sports wherever they want.

The issue is, why aren't women's sports financially succesful? Mostly, because in the 3 major American sports; football, basketball, and baseball, women are not physically built enough to stand the rigors of those sports.

In football, an average healthy build for guys (6', 180 #'s) would allow them to play a handful of positions on the field (QB, RB, WR, DB, K, P) while an average healthy women (5'6", 130 #'s) would allow them to play kicker or punter.

The WNBA is relatively successful, but only because the NBA has pumped in astronomical amounts of money into advertising. If anyone saw highlights of the WNBA all-star game and the debacle at the end known as the slam dunk contest goes to show that the WNBA will never be as entertaining as the NBA. If I picked a random Division II men's college basketball team that was above average and pitted them against a WNBA team, would you bet against the mens basketball team? Maybe, but you would probably pick the men's team at least 70% of the time. Now, if I picked UConn's womens hoops team and put them up against the Atlanta Hawks for 100 games, I know I would bet on the Hawks to win all 100. Do you know any NBA teams that start someone that is 6'5" at center? Me neither.

Is there potential for someday to find a women playing in MLB, but again it comes down to physiological issues. Do you think you could ever find a woman that could hit a ball as well as Pujols? Vlad Guerrero? Miguel Cairo? Yeah, there are a lot of great female softballers out there, but the dimensions of the field, type of bat and ball are substantially different then MLB.

Now some will view my statement as sexist, but I enjoyed watching the women's US soccer team during the 2000 World Cup victory over China as well as the rest of that World Cup. The LPGA is entertaining, Women's Tennis is more exciting then the men's game. If I catch women's volleyball on a Saturday afternoon, I'll watch for a little while. I would imagine a women's hockey team would match up decently against a men's at the same level.

But to answer your question, women can play sports, just generally not as well as men due to the physical make up of men being stronger and bigger, on average, in comparison to women.

I would like to put you up to bat against Monica Abbott, Cat Osterman, Jenny Finch or Alicia Hollowell and ask you why you cant hit a pitch by women that cant play sports. Oh yeah, Cheryl Swoops just called and challenged you to a game of 1 on 1. Pendejo!

Perhaps you could ask Venus or Serena Williams, Billie Jean King (who played her sport far superior to Bobby Riggs), Danika Patrick, Gabrielle Reece, Marion Jones, Cheryl Haworth, and others.

Also perhaps you could rethink your question and join the 21'st century with the the rest of us.
