If you are past your due date, your doctor will usually do an ultrasound to determine whether the due date was possibly off in the first place and to check and see if the baby is still doing well. If the due date was inaccurate, then they'll push it back and let the pregnancy continue unless the baby is in distress. If the baby is still doing fine, they will usually let the mother go two weeks past her due date before inducing.

Nope that is not true. Your exact conception date cannot be found unless you get pregnant by invetro or something scientific. So they will let you go over about a month before they will induce depending on how you and the baby are doing.

Plus try going 1 day past your due date and it will feel like weeks.

Due dates are not an exact science...they are an estimate of when they think you are due. If the child is not in distress and not abnormally big...there is no reason to screw with mother nature...the baby will come when it's ready. Nowadays, especially with midwifery coming back and people home birthing and going to birthing centers instead of hospitals...people are begining to remember that childbirth is a natural process not a medical procedure...it is your right as a mother and as a human to refuse medical procedures...I personally am 27 weeks pregnant and I will not be induced, I'm not using drugs and I won't use a constant fetal monitor. I don't understand why people treat birth like a damn surgical procedure..humans have been giving birth for thousands of years without an appointment, epidurals or inductions...and we've come this far...I think people need to snap out of it and remember its a natural process and stop getting so worked up.

I do not know the exact limit, but it really depends on the parents and the doctor. I was two weeks overdue with my first child, before they scheduled the inducement. However, my water broke the day before the scheduled inducement, and I ended up having him natural on that very day!! My doctor is psychic! Anyways, I believe doctors try to let nature take it's course, because inducing labor can create more issues. Not all due dates are that accurate, after all.

Two weeks is the most a doctor will let you go over but a nurse midwife will let you go to 43 weeks but usually you will deliver before ypu get there. Most doctors are now inducing by 41 weeks due to placenta getting old and starting to "die out" which is not good for you or the baby.

I was at almost 2 weeks past my due date before they decided to induce. My doctor told me that he doesn't like to go past 2 weeks after the due date.

It really depends on your doctor, but I think most will not let you go more than 2 weeks past your due date. After about 42 weeks the placenta starts to break down and become "old" and not as proficient in getting oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. You doctor probably wont let you go past 2 weeks....if you make it that far!

I was 2 weeks past due with my first child when the dr induced me. He said at that point it was dangerous to wait any longer. The placenta stops doing its job and the baby is at risk.

going previous your due date may reason you to have a larger infant because they have extra time to advance yet, it would not inevitably recommend it will be the case for you. docs typically attempt to estimate the burden of a infant before it is born and they don't look too good at that both. good success!! one component about having a larger infant is they can bypass longer between feedings so that you ought to get a fortunate damage that way.
