I've noticed there must be a lot of Floyd fans looking at some of the usernames. As a Floyd fan myself, I would be interested in you opinions. Explain why you have made your choices.

Top 5 tracks, (not in order & always subject to change)
Fearless
Childhood's End
Goodbye Blue Sky
One of My Turns
A Pillow of Winds
Probably like these because they where on albums I had when I was a teen. I also prefer more mellow & acoustic music.
Top 3 Albums, (not in order & always subject to change)
The Wall , possibly the greatest rock & roll album ever. Brilliant songwriting, lyrics & storyline.
Meddle, One of those albums I grew up with that always ignites some remote memories.
Obscured By Clouds, Another album I grew up with, a good friend who was killed in a motorcycle accident years ago actually turned me on to it.

True Story;
Last Friday I was cutting the grass & I thought about Syd Barrett. I knew he was still alive & wondered how many Floyd fans even knew who he was, or that he was still living. The following Monday I learned he had died, and that he had actually died a few days before but it wasn't yet released. I am a Floyd fan, but its not like I would think about Syd Barrett very often. Thought I'd share.

Hi Emma, here's my top 5
1 Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I-IX, because it is genius, and progressive, and yet not boring. The whole music is beautiful, and can make you travel with your mind
2 Wish you were here, mostly for personal reasons and because its a great song to sing with
3 The Great Gig in the sky, because it kind of represents the DSOTM album, and it's just beautiful Clare TOny's voice
4 One of these days, because its soft and aggressive at the same time, and the bass is great
5 Another Brick in the wall part 1 - I like the first one more than the second or the third, great guitar solo and voice work

Very hard to make this top 5, but I think it represents my taste very well. About Album, I think the order is this (in my opinion):
1 Dark Side of The Moon - There are no words to describe, the album is one great song, that makes us think about human kind and is something great to hear
2 Wish you were here, because all songs are nice, and there are two progressive gifts there, the first and the last tracks. Beautiful!
3... I guess Meddle breaks even with The Wall. Meddle, because have a really great and remarkable song, Echoes and a lot of other beautiful songs. And The Wall because of its complexity, and also that is a long album that remains conceptual.

OK, that's it, as a Floyd fan, I hope you approve it =)

What a great question to answer!!

1. Shine on you crazy diamond. It's number one music to um.. 'make love' to, especially when it turns into the last instrumental bit. The title is also what is written on my sons gravestone.
2. Comfortably numb. How many of us have been comfortably numb to that song?
3. On the turning away. Also because of the great instrumental on it.
4. Hey you. In fact, the whole of The Wall - sheer genius!
5. This is difficult, there are so many! Dogs of War I think. The first time I saw Floyd was at Wembley Stadium and I'll never forget the enthusiastic saxophonist.
Just seen Maestros answer and I've got to add on Great Gig in the Sky. Breathtaking.
Ah.. Forgot the albums.

The Wall.
Wish you were here.
Dark side of the moon.

I know they're safe predictable ones but they are my favourites.

Dogs, (animals)

Echoes, (Meddle)
Albums.
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Very hard to choose, I loved all the early albums, up until, The Wall, then I lost interest in Roger Waters Lyrics, harkin on about WW2, and all that crap, to dark and dreary for me.

Will the misty master break me
will the key unlock my mind
will the following footsteps catch me
am I really dying?......rest in peace Syd.
