When my kids were in junior high or so, they'd get together with neighborhood kids and play something they called Manhunt. They carried flashlights and hid in each others back yards while someone had to go hunting for them. Same principal as hide & seek. Is this what you're asking about?

Yeah, I can't remember the name but I used to play it in muddy fields! It was pretty much the same as hide-and-seek, but there was more running and rugby tackling involved. I don't remember it having a proper set of rules other than to avoid getting caught! I don't know how helpful this is.

My cousins and I used to play a similar game all the time. Sadly, we were not the most creative children and just called it flashlight tag because while we hid at first we still were allowed to run rather than be automatically caught after discovery.

We played capture the flag. 2 teams hide their flags and then head out trying to capture the opponents flags. Who ever gets the jump on the other wins the confrontation and continues the other is a prisoner and goes to jail..

I was born in the early 70's and we played hide'and' seek all the time, one person was it, and everyone else hid, and the person who was it, had to count to a certain number, and whoever they found, that person was it next.
