Iran was offered all the nuclear power they wanted by the Russians including full ownership of one or more nuclear power plants in Russia with very reasonable costs of transmission of power to Tehran - they balked and said no. If it was all about peaceful uses of nuclear technology for power it was handed to them in a safe way - they wouldn't even have had to suffer the indignations of failure if the plant blew up.....but they don't want just the energy.

They certainly do have that right, but did you know that if a country has the capability to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes they are as close as they can be to developing nuclear weapons? All you need to do is enrich the uranium a little while longer. Iran also has very impressive ICBMs. I like math, I'm good at putting two and two together. Also, we don't "know that Iran has no weapons program". What we do know is that UN and US intelligence agree that they stopped a program in 2003. Their is also no guarantee that estimate is 100% right, but I like the sound of it. Just because you like the sound of it too doesn't make it true. Still, it also means that in 2003 they WERE pursuing just such a program, and I am wondering why they were, and why they stopped. Doesn't it bother you that we have proof that Iran WAS developing a nuclear weapons program? ~2003, they also claimed they had no weapons program, and that they were developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes, which is exactly what they are saying now.

We also get very little news out of Iraq. The new conflict has everyone focused on what is happening there. No Iran is not enriching uranium for peaceful purposes and it has many countries worried about what to do. If it was for peaceful purposes, they would be more open and allow inspections - but they have refused requests to do so. Iran and North Korea are on the minds of people even though there seems to be more interest in Lebanon and Israel.

Of course! I also believe in the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy!
Trust me, there is continued attention to Iran's nuclear ambition. Don't define attention by what the media is doing. Explosions, wounded and dead people, destroyed buildings, soaring jets, etc. are a lot more exciting, so that's where the media goes. Face it, they're in show business not the news business despite their self-righteous proclaimations!

Believing Iran is like believing Bush when he convinced you guys that Irak had amassed and arsenal of dangerous weapons. Iran is not as dumb as Hussein was: he was fattened by the US IN TEH 80's and now is paying for it.
