It means that you and your friend have sex with each other and also with other people. It's like you have someone to fall back on when you need to get laid. I say why not just be in a relationship with that person?

An associate that you enjoy spending time with and having sex without being in a committed relationship.
These type of relationships usually fade away or ends badly when one of the associates (usually the female) catches feelings for the other and all of a sudden decides that they want more out of the relationship.
If you don't expect more than what you are getting now that's cool, just don't be angry if you find out that this other person is seeing someone else or decides to start a committed relationship w/someone else. Especially if they stop coming around you first.
Keep the lines of communication open to make sure you are not just a "stand in" until your FWB finds someone else to be with.
Lots of times it is hard to turn this type of relationship into something more stable because being able to "get the goodies" without a committment doesn't offer much incentive to develop this relationship into a more serious one.
If you decide to take your chances and continue seeing this FWB be careful and keep your expectations low.

Friends with benifits means a no strings attached sex friend. There when you need them .
Friends with benifits is okay as long as there are no feelings involved.. These type of relationships usually end badly when one of the people involved starts having feelings for the other and all of a sudden decides that they want more out of the relationship.
