I have taken it to two jewelers (same company, different locations). One says 'real' and the other says 'not so sure'. When I received it as a gift, it didn't come with any papers.

So how do I tell for sure if it's real? I want to sell it now, cuz I've come on hard times, and I want to make sure I am able to sell it as a "authentic" Rolex, and get the fair market value on it.

Rolex Submariner, black face, stainless steel band. Any takers? send offers to brotherpearson@hotmail.com (paypal?)

My bud bought it at a Ben Bridge Jewelers in Chicago, and I took it to the same place, just two different locations near LA. One said 'real' one said 'i don't know for sure'

If it didn't come with papers or a warranty, ask the person you got it from where they got it (say you need to get the battery replaced or something), and take it back to them and ask.

The only way you can tell for sure is the mechanical insides. A REAL jeweler can tell the difference. A Rolex has a swiss movement and the Faux-Lex has Japanese or Chinese movement. They look completely different. I would look up a Rolex expert in the jewelry section of your yellow pages. There is one in most every town.

I would contact Rolex customer service and ask them what the best way to solve your problem would be. At least you would know for sure what the best way is to determine whether it is genuine or not. You can't rely on jewelers because some of them are crooks themselves!

If your rolex is real look where you wind -up the watch. there should be a crown on the stem
but take it to a jeweler too
(I went to the rolex factory )

If someone gave it to you, it's fake. Nobody is going to give away a real Rolex. Would you? When jobless joe is selling made-in-China knockoffs on a blanket on the sidewalk for $20?..

Take it to a Rolex dealer, have them remove the back and read the serial number. Then have them verify the serial number with Rolex. Maybe it is hot.

Try a place that specilaizes in Rolex to be certain.

Since a "cheap" Rolex is close to $8000, I kinda doubt you have a real one.

Yea, take it to an authorized rolex dealer - they can run their own tests to see the authenticity of it

if you have a woman around that is wearing makeup and you rub the band on her face and it doesn't leave a black mark its fake- not joking, you can do this trick with rings, braclets, ect. something to do with the material of the gold, stainless steel. weird but true!
