Sure. We should also outlaw volcanos and make it illegal for the sun's surface temperature to increase. Maybe we could outlaw the reversal of the ice age. I know, we'll put a $100 fine on each cow that passes gas! We CAN make a difference.

I don't think that SUVs are making the earth hotter. The real problem with an SUV is the incredible amount of fuel lit consumes, i.e. Hummers. If people had to pay a much higher registration price every year to own one, I think you would see a drastic drop in SUV sales. Registration should be directly correlated to the tonage and number of cylinders a vehicle has. That way, those who have hybrids or 4-cylinder cars would actually get a break for trying to save money and fuel, and those who don't care, pay more. I will no doubt offend someone, but I really don't care about that.

I'm answering this only in the hope of educating you about the fallacy you seem to have accepted as fact...that SUV's are responsible for "global warming", which itself is a fallacy.
True, we are at a 400- year high average temperature, but that fact means that it was just as warm 400 years ago. So this proves that auto emissions can't be a significant contributor. There were no SUV's, cars, or industries 400 years ago, and the average temp is the same now as it was then.
Even 100 years ago, the average temperature was only about 1 1/2 degrees cooler...hardly an indication that we're going to fry anytime soon.
The correct answer is that the Earth is simply going through another cycle of heating and cooling, as it has since the Earth was formed. The distribution of warm and cold temperatures has merely shifted, as it has been proven to have done in the past by archaeological research.
So the answer to your question is NO. You can outlaw them to save on gas if you wish, but they will have no impact on global temperature.

People should have the right to drive what they want. And, in many cases, an SUV is better because it can carry more people and equipment - so you only need one vehicle.
And, most importantly, nothing that humans do is causing global warming. That's a myth perpetrated upon mankind by bitter fools like Al Gore.

China's coal-burning is a more credible threat than SUVs - by the year 2020 they'll be burning something like 300 million tons of coal per year, that's more crap into the air than 3 billion SUVs driven 15,000 miles a year!

I don't think we'll have to decide that one because the cost of fuel is rising fast enough to send a lot of them out to pasture. You should see some nice low prices on new and used SUVs when we hit $4 a gallon in the US.

Absolutely NOT... If I have to put up with illegal immigrants, surly customer service people, high taxes and gas prices, an idiot in the Whitehouse and a world at war because of the idiot in the whitehouse... then the Earth can put up with my SUV.
