If you have a heat related illness, then the chances are that you're dehydrated. Check the color of your urine, the more yellow, the more you need to drink water. Now this isn't 100% effective, but it is a good tool to use. We use this all the time in the Middle East with the soldiers and contractors. We tell them to drink water until their urine is clear, then continue to drink water. If you have problems with spoiled food, then you may also have some vomiting and diarrhea associated with your other symptoms. If it continues, then you'll need to see a doctor. Best of luck to you..........

Yes, I have people say it a lot - as if it were that easy! When "friends" say it, I feel even worse as I feel I should be able to just "Pull myself together" and yet I can't. My true friends, however, accept me for what I can do at any given moment and never put too much pressure on me. My family have also been a great source of understanding. I feel so lucky to have them around. Many don't have such good friends and family and I think it makes the illness a lot harder to cope with.

Drink water....if it is heat-related it means you are becoming dehydrated, so drinking water should help. If it doesn't help the situation then you know it is not heat-related, and can look at other reasons, like the spoiled food.

You might not be able to tell. You have to treat both symptoms. I can't stress enought that you need to keep cool, even by taking a cold shower, putting ice on your head, neck and stomach, and drink lots of water. Even if you are throwing up. If you ate spoiled food or have food poisoning it will include diareha. If it gets worse, regardless of the cause, go to the hospital.

If you throw up and get diarrhea probably it is from the food. If you drink plenty of water and feel better then it is from the heat. You could throw up from the heat too but not likely unless you really have heat stroke. Drink a lot of water. It should go away pretty quick if it is from the heat.

If you have diarrhea and cramping, it is most likely from salmonella.
