Some weights you just squeeze together the soft lead around the line. Others you have to tie the line to. For this use a "fishing knot". This is kind of hard to describe in text, but bear with me.

Hold the weight in your right hand between your thumb and middle finger.

Put the fishing line through the loop on the weight.

Put your right index finger on top of the loop on the weight and bring the free end of the line over your index finger

Hold the free end and the "pole" end of the line together with your left hand between your thumb and index finger.

Release the weight being held by your right thumb and index finger. You should now be holding a loop of line between the thumb and index finger of your left hand and your right index finger should be in that loop with a weight dangling at the bottom.

Rotate your right index finger 6 times making a twist in the top of the loop.

Remove your right index finger from the loop and put the free end of the line through the resulting hole.

Pull tight. This should form a kind of "hangman's" knot on the top of the weight that will keep a monofilimant line from slipping.

The same knot can be used to attach other items.

HINT: I find it easier to attach a locking swivle at the end of the line using this knot and attach any hooks, lures, or weights to the swivel. that way you can change things without having to re-tie everything.

this goes either onto the line or the hook, just needs to be looped into and then the hook on the end
very simple
