The earth is bigger than the moon, but it doesn't make him a dumbass. If he actually is asking a question related to science, then he's probably very smart.

The moon (which is made of Wensleydale cheese) USED to be bigger than the earth, but we have been mining the cheese for centuries and bringing it down here to eat, so the moon has gotten smaller & smaller.
