Evolutionarily speaking they are more than just "food bags", they also signal to males when a female is sexually mature.


Oh and since no one seems to recognize this I guess I will post it, none of the other mammals have breasts like humans do, they have nipples! And nipples are sufficient to feed babies, breasts developed when we were no longer quadrupeds (i.e we started walking on two legs and not four), because when we walked on all fours the butt was believed to give the sexual signals, when walking on two the butt lost it's emphasis and breasts replaced them as the signal givers.
