I work as a cashier, and I have to admit to the fact that I'm one of those people you either love or hate. And I'm fine with that. However, there are some customers who I know dislike me but come through my line, anyway. Call me crazy, but I tend to avoid people I dislike like the plague. Why don't these people do us both a favor and do the same?

I am like you. If someone does not like me I avoid them & let them be. But there are many people in the world that just want something to complain about or someone to gripe about. They are unhappy so they try to make everyone else around them unhappy as well.
You probably work with people like this as well. Have you ever noticed at work that the ones that are instigating stuff most of the time are bored housewives that do not even have to work if they did not want to? But they would not quit the job, because then they would have to find something else to complain about.
Or people that complain about their marriages but never get divorced. They are just want to gripe about something. It is a sick hobby. It is just like Gilda Radner's Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say "It's always something..."
I know it is difficult, but you are handling the best way. If you stoop to their level they have accomplished what they have set out to do.

How do you know they dont like you? There are cashiers that I know that I probably wouldnt like if I was out talking to them or something, but if they are just ringing up my purchases, I couldnt give a crap less if I would like them or not. So, you may just be projecting, insecure, or you're just missing the big picture that they dont give a crap.

They know it bothers you.If they don't like you,that's a pretty easy way to get to you.I'm sure it bothers you more than it does them.I wouldn't worry about it.Be nice.That confuses most people.
