My dad works in Beirut and I was going to go and visit for a few weeks, but he cancelled it because of whats going on. They're evacuating Americans, but he said a lot are staying, like most of the people from his work. The media makes it sound like this is a big deal, but I guess I don't really know. Will he and the other Americans over there who decide to stay be safe? I don't even really know whats going on.

Our media is skewed and terribly exaggerating. Your father knows his situation the best. If he thinks he'll be fine, as long as he is aware of his surroundings, he will be fine.
If I were you I'd learn a lot more about what is going on there though.
I wish/ pray your father a safe stay.

He will NOT be ok. He will be ok for now, but he just needs to keep his mind on what is going on because this could really blow up if Syria and Iran step in there, they will occupy the country and take all valuable people, IE Americans, as prisoners of war, and we know those people do not treat them good. You father should be fine for now, but as soon as another arab country steps in into fighiting Israel, I would force him into getting out of there. I really hope he will be fine.
