OK, respect to keefer, because he respects the issues. I don't care about ugly.
I confess Iiked Margaret Beckett during John Smith's time but went off her shortly afterwards. She was a very poor agriculture minister, among other things. But miserable farmers only kill themselves, not scores of other people.
Then I heard her on the news this morning, and thought, if this is the quality and depth of understanding that Britain brings to bear on this issue, then so help us. The only worse thing to do would be to send John Prescott.
I guess I'm just frustrated with yet another Blair apparatchik being dispatched to do naff all. It's just that this time it matters.

Mmmm lets resort to name calling shall we. Very intelligent. Margaret Beckett is a lovely woman. I do not mean that she is necessarily a good politician, but her heart is in the right place. Has anyone else managed to solve the Middle east crisis in the last 60 years? A bit unfair to blame her for not managing it now I feel
