london sucks, fashion is late there.
rome, paris, and new york are the fashion capitals.
tokyo, london, and all the others get the fashion mailed to them from those cities.

Fashion trends are set simultaneouly in NY, London, Milan nad Paris (as they are considered the main fashion capitals), during fashion week in which is held in September for the coming Spring/Summer and in Feburay for the coming Fall/Winter.
Trends from other countries and cities also 'rub off' on each other. Take for instance the Japanese harajuku girls, who's style of dressing inspire many designers around the world or the Indian tunic silhouette, which has been reinvented in many avatars (think tunic style dress) by designers in the Europe and the US. Hollywood also sets trends around the world.

Why worry if something is in fashion or not in London, Tokyo, Milan or New York. If you see something you like, and is your size, wear it.

I am not into that whole thing at all. I wear combat shorts and tshirts with steel toecapped workboots for all occasions and recommend you do the same.
