No. Instead one should consume anywhere between 5-6 Ltrs. But remember one thing, do not consume large amount of water in a single time. Consume water in regular intervals.

Your body is made of 80% water, so depending on the amount of activity you do, you will need at LEAST 8, 8oz glasses of water per day. For slightly active people (maybe walkers or heavy housework) add a couple of glasses...for very active people (runners or other athletes) you will need to add maybe 4 glasses. An interesting fact is that a lot of times you feel hungry, you're actually just thirsty. Always try drinking a glass of water before you eat if you feel hungry.
When first increasing your water intake, your body will eliminate the water quickly (you'll be peeing alot!) but eventually it will become accustomed to it and your bladder will adjust. Remember to listen to your body. If you start to feel light headed or nautious after you drink an extreme amount of water, then stop. You will learn what amount is healthy.

2 ltr as compared to the size of a 2 ltr coke bottle?
Then no, it isn't too much water to drink during the day. Especially if you're active, exercising or it is hot.
Drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated during hot weather.

Most doctors would say no! You can drink more. I get migraines from too much water, so something most be wrong if my body signals like that, so maybe it's not always the best thing to do. If you need (you cannot help it!!) to drink unusually large amounts of water all the time -not just because it's hot or you exercise, it might be a sign of diabetes.

Hyponatremia, also called water poisoning or water intoxication, is very rare. The usual cause is fluid retention due to medication side effects.
Some runners have managed, with great difficulty, to give themselves hyponatremia (1.) "Hyponatremia was associated with substantial weight gain [during the race from drinking too much water & other fluids,] consumption of more than 3 liters of fluids during the race, consumption of fluids every mile, a racing time of >4:00 hours, female sex, and low body-mass index."
Two liters in a day is quite safe; three or more liters in less than four hours is ... unwise.

the correct amount of water each day is 1/2 oz for each
pound of weight. in hot weather when you are sweating,
increase this. 2 ltr. is probably pretty close for most
adults.

No, drinking water is never bad for your body. Obviously you'll have to go to the bathroom more, but you can drink as much water as possible everyday, and as long as you don't try breathing it (causing drowning) you are fine.

Nope the more water you drink the better. Specially on hot days. It flushes out the system.

I used to think it was harmless, but then I heard of some lady who drunk a heck of a lot of water before a marathon and diluted her electrolytes and died shortly after.
