Thanks soul doctor! Def worse when tired or stressed, can be ocerwhelmed by anxiety at times. Feel that it may be related to past lower back problems ?disc probs. Have suffered with fatigue, is worse at mo as have stopped pain meds as hate tablets that cover up rather than treat. Pain is shooting sharp and can be severe, though comes in spurts for a few seconds then goes. Don't know if this is helpful info, but thank you for your help x

Have you ever considered seeing a chiropractor?

Chiropractic is based on the principle that the Central Nervous System (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) controls EVERY function of our bodies, and if there is interference anywhere along the nerve impulse, it has a negative effect on the body. When the spinal column is misaligned (what chiropractic calls a subluxation), the vertebrae can pinch/damage the nerves that run out between them, thus interfering with the CNS signals and causing pain, numbness/tingling, or any type of general malfunction to that nerve's corresponding body.

You said this might stem from a lower back problem? Herniated disks can also put a lot of pressure on the nerves and cause pain. Since our CNS is an interconnected, highly complex network of nerves, seeing a chiropractor to remove the subluxation (if this is the cause of your problem) might be your best bet. There are many different types of chiro techniques out there, so you should ask family and friends for recommendations, visit a few offices, and pick the DC (Doctor of Chiropractic) that you are most comfortable with. No matter what you decide to do, I hope things work out for you!

Try acupuncture. My mother has suffered extensive damage to her eyes when she was still in uterus. Severe headaches accompanied her 24/7. When she was about 50, the painkillers she was taking every day started to intoxicate her. That's when she turned to acupuncture. The first sessions nearly killed her. The pain was excruciating. But one day she woke up with the strangest sensation. Guess what? For the first time in her life, she was not in pain. It was such an unusual feeling for her that she thought there was something wrong. She has been without pain until this day, she's now 68. So why don't you try that? Find yourself a good acupuncturist. And persevere, okay?

Styrian pumpkin, Evening primrose and Borage seed, all stimulate production of prostaglandins which are useful in fighting inflammation.
A combination of Devil's claw, Turmeric, Gravelroot and Rue are very useful.
