I am generally interested in religions and their histories, I have read about various religions but know little about 'Christianity' and its various forms/sects/divisions and this is to be my next project.....I am looking initially for where the Old Testament 'originated' from, who wrote the scripts that it is composed of, who 'put it together', etc
I know this is a bit vague but I really am starting from scratch.....any info on relevant books, websites etc would be greatly appreciated. (Ideally, objective views, I don't want to be converted, just given info.....)

The Bible contains two parts the Old and the New Testaments. The Bible states in Genesis the garden of Eden laid in the fertile crest which had three rivers flowing from the middle of it. The Hebrew nation (Jewish nation) comes from the land of Ur when the Lord called Abram to leave his family and settle in the land where Israel is today. The Old Testament is the account between the Lord and the Jewish nation.Christianity come from the from the followers of the Lord's Son Jesus Christ and the New Testament recounts His life, His teachings and His followers as they lived what He taught. To go in depth on the total origins of the Bible you need to go into theology history. You can research it on the internet through some very good sources the one Billy Graham and Dr. James (Doson(spelling?) has very reliable information.

Study the history of the Catholic Church. Constantine and the early Christians had alot to do with the books in the Bible. The Old Testament is based on Jewish oral history... Good luck take a Tylenol because Bible history can be a headache

The books of the Bible originate as morality tales passed on through an oral tradition in the Middle East through generations. There are actually many that never made it into the Bible. The Vatican is responsible for gathering together the books the Church views as the "true word" of God or Christ, or Mary, or whoever they want to put the spotlight on at the moment (a.k.a. the canon texts of the Bible).

The bible. Who cares? Just kidding. I haven't made a study of religion or the bible, what I have heard, so yes this is hearsay, is that the bible was originally written in Aramaic. Islamic, I believe. I may be wrong... so fact check. I was told that Adam and Eve originally referred to the conscious and unconscious minds. So from my own inferences I'd say the beginning of man was the joining of the two. Interesting.

Constantine put a council together to determine which books would be put together to create the Bible. That's what I know.... I don't think that they know what factors determined the books were chosen and which were not.
