Some school system somewhere has banned most books at one time or another.
MY FRIEND FLICKA by Mary O'Hara
In 1990 the book (first published in 1941) was excised from 5th- and 6th-grade optional reading lists in Clay County, Florida schools. The book uses the word "b**ch" to accurately refer to a female dog and the word "damn."

I don't know if it was ever officially "banned in Boston" as they used to say, but I do remember my parents discussing this when I was just a child. The memory sticks with me because the movie had just arrived in our local theatre and I badly wanted to see it!
Many Christian groups had demonstrated and protested at booksales, and preachers of all descriptions based Sunday sermons on the subject. When the movie came out, it received similar public lambasting from the so-called "Bible Belt." Our pastor had been on about it at services the week before, but my Dad was ever a rebel, so I got to see the movie!
It was not really a "children's" movie, but the only part that interested me at the time was the horse and its young owner! I really don't remember anything controversial about the story, so it must have sailed right over my innocent young head. I seem to remember that there was more to it than just the word b-i-t-c-h, though.

Probably. A lot of books have been banned at one time or another, including "Farenheit 451" which is a book about book banning/burning.

Where do you think it was banned? Maybe a certain school or organization did, but it's not on the list kept by the American Library Association.

I hadn't heard this, but I totally believe it. People who censor books are usually raving ignoramuses, not to mention prudes with tiny heads.
