I've been doing it that way for 5 years now. Just make sure you get a cell package with enough minutes. I have Cingular and have 1500 anytime minutes and free nights and weekends. It works out great for me. As long as you don't have dial up internet and need a land line to connect you should be all good. It's so much cheaper than using a land line.

I have, and I don't miss the land line one bit. The only people that called it anyway were telemarketers and people I didn't like enough to give my cell phone number.
I hooked up an answering machine to my land line for 2 weeks that stated my cellphone number and that I could be contacted there if needed. After 2 weeks I killed the land line and enjoy cheaper rates on a phone that is always with me.
Just make sure you have a cellphone plan that can handle the extra calls and talking time.

A word of advice, do NOT do this. Cell phones work on radio signals and work very much like two-way radios. When they work, they are fine, but when there are glitches in the transmission towers, or whatever, they are not worth a hoot. I live in New Orleans, and during Hurrican Katrina, they didn't work worth a hoot. Text messaging was the only thing that worked ok.
Another thing, cell phone are not as secured as land lines.

I did this last year because of never being home. I always depended on my cell anyway, so I figured I would cut back a little and see how it went. I am so glad I did because I am saving $60.00 a month now, and my cell is perfectly fine! I would recommend this to anyone.

if you want to keep the same phone number, do not cancel your landline, you must go to your new cellular provider and sign some paperwork and then you may be able to keep it. Once it's gone it's gone. Also, consider that cell phones cannot make faxes and that most security systems depend on a phone line for monitoring.

Well, I haven't, but my coworker has. She thinks it's great. I think some cell phone companies offer internet connection, too. Worth checking into to. It costs so much just to have the land line these days. Heck, everything costs a lot.

We did it and I am So happy we did, I never have tellemarketers calling, saves us money too. Our cell phones have great service and we have cable internet , so there was no need for a land line. And besides that anybody that I would want to call me already has my number!

Sure. I don't know why I haven't done the same thing myself. Computer is DSL via TV people and cell phone sits next to me all the time. I honestly don't know why I keep the land line on.

best move ever, i find that i rarely use my landline. With cell phone calling plans being so cheap these days, there is no reason to have a landline. Everyone I know in school has done the same. In fact you save money, on long distance too.
