I had extremely high blood pressure during a pregnancy with twins. Your doctor has probably told you by now to lay off all salt, including high-sodium foods. That is excellent advice. Try to keep your legs elevated when sitting, drink lots of fluids. Stay calm and take good care of yourself, i.e., plenty of rest, vegetables, and fruits. No alcohol and no cigarettes. Good luck to you.

I have! I developed toxemia at 34 weeks, I had really high blood pressure and was swollen like a blimp! they had to induce me at 36 weeks because it got so bad, after I had her they told me that they would not have given me an epidural even if i had wanted one because they gave me medicine to regulate my blood pressure and if they had given my an epidural it would have gone too low....glad i didn't ask for one, because i would not have been very happy!

I was on bed rest for 2 weeks.

I had this problem with my last pregnancy. I was on bedrest for 5 weeks. I was still able to have perfectly safe and healthy home birth. Listen to your care provider and make sure you rest a lot.

I have. The last three months I was put on bed rest and had to keep going in for stress tests on the baby's heart. It was a scary time, but we both survived and are healthy.
