97 degrees is normal. Don't worry. The normal body temperature is 97 to 99 degrees F, 98.6 degrees is just the average.

I don't know what too low is but my normal temperature is about 97. Not everyone has a body temp of 98.6.

That isnt really low...but you may want to recheck the way youre taking the temp...if he's got the thermometer under his tongue you must make sure its staying there.....also if youre taking the temp within 5 minutes of drinking something cold you will get a false reading..your 97....and you'd get the reverse if he drank something hot....to get a true body core temp then you need a rectal thermometer...

That is slightly low. He may be one of those types that has a naturally low body temp, but if it starts to get to 94 or 93 degrees, that is a strong concern.

A lower temp such as 97 is indicative of a suppressed immune system. It is normal before or after you have an illness to have a period of lower temp.

Hypothermia usually occurs when someone is exposed to the elements, cold in particular. You may have gotten an incorrect reading, when in doubt especially with a child see a qualified MD.

98.6 degrees is a range -- body temperatures usually fluctuate a degree or so above and below.

But if you are concerned, call your physician immediately.
