Earlier today I saw a report where an english lady said Israel had commited war crimes in the last few days. Fair enough! She is entitled to here own opinion. A month, or so ago, there was a big uproar against a missile that was supposed to be Israelie, killing people on a beach. This item was reported over and over for days. It turned out that it was not an Israelie missile, but someone elses. This merited one little mention!

Continuouly there is a slant against this country, sometimes it is subtle, sometimes obvious.

I don't want this to become a pro-them, anti the other, debate, but has anyone else notice this? Why does it happen?

I hear what you say John J, but I am not seeking for, or against here. I am looking at the bias, even if Israel is wrong!

You may notice as you work down the answers that they move away from the question and become anti-Israel!

Do you all work for the BBC :-)

A) It has not yet been proven one way or the other what the explosion on the beach was (see what the American Human Rights Watch has said about the incident here http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=92304&version=1&template_id=37&parent_id=17 )

B) The act of violence is what gets reported, not the retractions and I'm sorries.

C) Israel is in the wrong with the way they are attacking Lebanon.
Now don't get me wrong, Israel has its reasons to want to attack, but it does not have the legal standing to do so against Lebanon. If a Canadian terrorist group kidnapped an American soldier, we would not be bombing Qubec. We would not decide, unilaterally, to occupy 100 miles of Canada to set up a "buffer zone". The BBC, in reporting on the war crimes (and technically they are) of Israel is honest reporting. The wishy-washy reports you recieve in America is CYA reporting.

Although i can't say i've noticed any obvious bias by the BBC, i do think that if what you are saying is true then the BBC needs to sort itself out. The media has a responsibility to deliver fair, unbiased news so that the public can make up their own minds about a situation without their views being skewed by some big-wig's ideas. Although everyone has a right to their own opinion, it is up to the media to deliver the facts, and show arguments from both sides, whatever the conflict.

Do you really think any current media we see is unbiased? How come I dont see you complaining about the biased nature of Fox news and cnn? Let me ask you this? How many of you have seen reports of kidnappings of Palestinians? I would like to paste a few paragraphs of the recent chomsky's interview here.

-------------------
Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.
------------------
Did you ever see this on CNN??

At another part he said:
---------------------------------------------------
If there's a conflict going on, aside physical war, not in a military conflict going on, abduction -- if soldiers are captured, they are to be treated humanely. But it is not a crime at the level of capture of civilians and bringing them across the border into your own country. That's a serious crime. And that's the one that's not reported. And, in fact, remember that -- I mean, I don’t have to tell you that there are constant attacks going on in Gaza, which is basically a prison, huge prison, under constant attack all the time: economic strangulation, military attack, assassinations, and so on. In comparison with that, abduction of a soldier, whatever one thinks about it, doesn't rank high in the scale of atrocities.
---------------------------------------------

If you still think, thats not the case, try living in Gaza for 6 months.

lol..No we do not work for BBC. And as I said, dont expect any form of media to be unbiased.
However what you can always do is read both sides of stories and make a decision for yourself. That sure does require a lot of time and effort though.
The reason why I was talking about Israel and the current events is because you said in your question about BBC being biased against Israelis. And I was just wondering howcome you did'nt mention other news reporting agencies who are biased against Palentine, which by the way are more listened to (cnn, msnbc, fox and dozens more) and exceeds far in number.

i don't understand. i could desire to by no potential be sure the Europeans! If everyone have been to do to them what has been happening to Israel, they may be the 1st to yell bloody homicide! besides, issues are seen plenty in any different case in u.s. and that i think of Israel has many supporters right here! Israel needs to take care of herself and he or she needs the help of her friends. u.s. is her chum. What the Europeans could desire to comprehend is that Hamas and radical Muslims isn't happy till they have international domination. each united states of america in the international. they do no longer seem to agonize approximately making peace, only taking on each little thing! i'm hoping they comprehend this before it is only too late. Israel is doing the the remainder of the international a want! She merits the help and love of the the remainder of the international!

Based on what I've seen, you have it exactly backwards.

Israel daily kidnaps & murders people and it is barely reported. On the other hand, if an Israeli stubs his toe running from an attack, it is given a headline and front page coverage for days.

Usually accompanied by photos of Arabic looking people waving weapons.

There is media bias, and it all favors or is sympathetic to Israel.

It is a sticky situation.

The land was always, historically, Palestine...while there were Jewish settlements.

Palestinians had their country ripped out of their hands, and the people of Israel have had too little compassion, or understanding, for their plight.

For those of us who feel compassion and understanding for BOTH sides, one thing is obvious, and that is this is not being dealt with very well by either side....but the onus is on ISRAEL to find a compassionate soltution.

The BBC are so left wing that their PC / Blair led programmes would not support any right wing movement. We pay good money for a neutral news. Ask the Tories they have hell of a rough ride by the BBC. New Labour according to the BBC s**t sunshine.

The entire weight of the mighty USA is on the side of Israel, so somebody has to show a bit of unbiasedness, and the BBC does it.

Israel is a rogue state ruled by a gang of blood-thirsty Nazi bastards who have no respect for human life, who despise every little value human beings cherish, who are engaged in an unrelentless process of extermination through mass murder and genocide.
