Torremolinos (10 kilos from Malaga) is good at this time of year, but be warned...if you know a fair bit of Spanish, find work with them (you'll be mucho appreciated!). If, however you throw in your all with the British, you might find cynicism before you have your first wage packet...Brits are, in Spain pretty nasty and the more money we have, the more bastardly we become. Spent a couple of years around that area not too long ago, and met folk from the same part of the world who appeared to have learnt how to survive in Spain from a surreal mixture of criminal autobiographies and half a decades' supply of Eastenders...but less of that - you'll find that out in time.
Summer is a beast, as everywhere on the Costa Del Sol is expensive, but you can find places well away from tourist areas that are fair.
