I'm just wondering what people think is so bad about it..

Well...
Watching the news will tell you that there are A LOT of computer predator who are out for young girls and boys. (I think people who are lured into this perverts are the smartest either)
Some people also post pictures of themselves on the web, which is pretty dangerous, because you don't know who is watching. Webcams are not a good idea.
If is is closed only to your friends and ppl you know, then it is okay.
There was a show on CBS about predators, with the host tracking down men. They created a fake screen name of a girl and giving the people an address. Police were waiting there as the host appeared and talked to the bad guy to get his perspective. Many of them had actually seen the show, but thought they would never be caught. They was a firefighter and even a 6th grade teacher (pretty disturbing...) so it goes to show...
