I am 17 years old and in need of a new job/hobby. I am looking into pet sitting and was wondering Is anyone here a "Pet Sitter"? If so, do you make a reasonable amount of $?

You have to take into consideration the demographic of your location/town.
I pet and house sit and get between $15 to $40 a day depending on what I have to do. (they provide enough food and supplies, I supply nothing but love and affection for their pets.)

Make sure you also make a list of what you are willing to do and not willing to do and make sure that you do not have to be liscensed or insured to do it. (check with your city) Because if you will be doning this for individuals that you are not close with like friends/relatives and something bad happens or goes wrong you can risk a law suit. So a good contract would also help as long as it is water tight.

I am a pet sitter in Wisconsin. I am 24 and just started my business a couple months ago. Right now I sometimes go a week without any money, and then I'll get a week where I'll make $200-$300. Advertizing is really expensive, even if you just hand out flyers and cards. I spend lots of money on paper, ink, and copies at Staples. The best way to advertise is word of mouth, because people don't just trust their pets and house with any ol' person, they want someone that a friend told them about. It makes them feel like they know the person better. I got special pet sitter's insurance and a seller's permit, but if you just want to do it for friends and relatives that probably is not necessary. Good luck!

Depending on where you live, pet sitters make about $15 per half an hour, but aren't there the whole day. I was trying to get a job with a pet sitting agency and they charged $65 for over night stays.
