Just curious of how many people from my neck of the woods are now on Long Island like me? SW Michigan: Allegan, K'Zoo, Three Rivers?

Originally from Three Rivers, met my husband & moved to Long Island 9 yrs ago. Still have family back home & miss them bunches! Just wanna know if there's other transplants like me nearby. I know that NY area is a place where a lot of people from all over the country end up. Bonus questions: Former Michiganders & other midwestern transplantees: Do you get razzed about your "accent", and how do you deal with it? Do you now recognize similar accents to yours? (I never did until I moved here.)

I'm from Howell, MI. It's about 20 minutes north of Ann Arbor. 40 minutes west of Lansing. 45 minutes east of Detroit and 50 minutes south of Flint.... and I live in Lower Manhattan, the Washington Square Park/NYU area.....

Hey!!...I'm not in New York, but in Kalamazoo, Michigan. What are you doing in N.Y.? How did you become so fortunate as to "escape" this "not-going-anywhere" hole-in-the-ground area of S.W. Michigan? My advice: "Stay where you ARE!" There's nothing at all happening in S.W. Michigan and, (you must know how it is) when you are HERE you just want to get the hell "out of here". You are very fortunate to be on Long Island, New York...WE have the "Great Lakes"...but YOU have the "Ocean" on every side. (Get rid of nothing-Indiana, and WE would be an "Island" too!).
