Hello,

I am trying to get ready for a swing performance at my dad's wedding (in mid-October) My friend is a very good dancer and will be my partner. Problem is, although he's agreed to doing this and practice with me, he can be hard to get a hold of/make plans. I've already bought the shoes and a nice, unreturnable dress and I just dont know how to deal with him in a civil/effective way.
I have a feeling like he's not commited to this project that means so much to me; I'm worried that he'll keep putting off practices or even bail.
Please give me advice.

you are probably right. he doesn't want to do it and he's giving out the signs (which is more important than when he said he would do it). You already really know he's not going to do it. You need a different partner if you want someone who will practice with you. Go down to the local swing club and get someone who wants to do it.

Maybe you can contact a dance studio and get somebody who would be interested in partnering up with you for the performance. If not, post an ad on www.dancescape.com or www.ballroomdancers.com in the partner search section(s). It's free and you might get someone in your area or close to your area who already knows how to dance who may be willing to partner up with you. If you were close to where I live, I would volunteer my son to partner up with you. He is a 3 time world swing dance champion.
