When your muscles are stimulated euither naturally or with a TENS unit, the nerves in the muscle tissue release a chemical (endorphins) that have an effect of pain reduction. The TENS unit uses very small electrical current to stimulate the muscles in he affected area. This increases the endorphins in that area only and decreses the pain from that area. Many people have terrific pain relief and muscle relaxation with the use of the TENS unit. Good luck!!!

It uses electrical impulses which block and dispurse pain so you don't feel it. I used it in labour 12 weeks ago and found it was good, i had to have more pain relief in the end, but people go the whole way through with just that.

In order to allieve pain, it disrupts the nerve endings (aka: synapse) so "pain" does not register with the brain.
