I've been cheering for Ray to have a 2,000 point season ever since he was a rookie. Last year, he came very close. He had 1946 points. If he didn't get suspended them two games and hurt a couple of games he could've made it. The only bad thing about Ray Allen is he doesn't drive to the whole enough and contact the foul. His stats show that. He's got like the lowest Free throw attempts out of all guards in the NBA, with Dwayne Wade with one of the highest. They both have different styles though. Wade never hardly takes 3 point shots, Ray Allen is a 3 point phenom! Wade is always driving, Allen hardly ever! If Allen wants to have more points all he has to do is drive more to the hoop. I patterned Ray Allen as the next Jordan type of player, however, he needs to drive more to even get that comparison and a lot of titles! Anyway, will Ray Allen get his 2,000 point season before his career ends? Also did Allen Iverson get traded?

I made a typo I'm sorry. Hole is what I meant to say about Ray Allen driving to the basket.

I like Ray Allen, he's a pure shooter. But you're right he doesn't go to the basket enough, mostly because he's a softer perimeter player. I think this is concsious decision so that he can stay in the league longer (decisions Reggie Miller and Michael Jordan succumbed to in their careers, too).
What makes DWade successful is that he does go to the hole, but I think also the refs give him superstar calls, like they did with MJ. I mean, he shot 25 FTs in Game 4 or 5, MORE than the whole Dallas team. That's just wrong.
So to answer your question, I think Ray will surpass 2000 points if he stays healthy. If anyone like Rashard or Vladimir gets injured, Ray will shoulder more of the scoring load and definitely do it.

You're KILLING me! I'm a huge Sonics fan and went to over 20 games last season at KeyArena and I can tell you first hand that he drives ALL THE TIME. He averages 4.5 free throw attempts per game for his career and while that's not the same as Wade's 10.5 per game this past season, it simply isn't his game. Wade doesn't shoot threes for **** if you want to compare the two. Allen may not top the league in free throw attempts, but he certainly isn't at the bottom of the league. He averaged 4.6 attempts per game last season, which was the exact same as Chris Webber's, Zach Randolph's and Al Harrington's average and more than Joe Johnson (4.0 per game), Lamar Odom (3.9 per game), Bonzi Wells (3.7 per game), Antawn Jamison (3.6 per game), Steve Nash (3.5 per game) and Ben Gordon (3.4 per game) - all who are "known" for taking it to the rim. Seriously. I wonder if most people have ever watched Allen play. He always gets compared to Allan Houston or Michael Redd. Those guys aren't even comparible! Ray Allen is a star! Those guys are spots shooters...excellent spot shooters, but nothing compared to Ray. Ray Allen has excellent handles, it athletic, strong for a wing, tough as nails, finds teammates, and can juke out anybody. Sadly, because he's played for small market teams his whole career (Seattle and Milwaukee) he gets no respect. But, the guy does much more than shoot.
To answer your question, I don't think he'll get 2,000 points this year and I hope he doesn't. The Sonics I think have more scoring options this year having Wilcox and Watson for the entire season. Plus, I don't want him to get that many because it will mean he'll be worn out by the season's end. He needs some help and someone needs to step up to help him.
Nothing but a shooter my ***. This Guy Fawke is nothing more than a casual fan who hasn't watched enough to know.
Oh, and Call911now is a retard. Ray Allen did not shoot 35% from the three point line this past year, he shot 41.2%. That's incredible! He does take a lot of threes, but he's in the top 5 or 6 percentage wise of those who take more than 2 a game. People need to do their research. Sorry, it's just frustrating that Ray doesn't get the respect he deserves. He's right up their with Wade, Kobe and T-Mac as one of the best guards in the league. Maybe a half notch below them with Pierce.
Regarding Allen Iverson...he has yet to be traded. If he does get dealt, I don't think it will be during the off season.

i think ray allen will get his 2k pts next season...ray is 31 yrs old and some consider that to be the peak of a shooting guard's career in terms of overall ability...he is also always trying to prove that he is one of the elite nba talents ever since he was wid da bucks...he has never had any significant chance to win mvp or nor has he been an all nba first teamer....he is mediocre when it comes to rebounding and assists...but is a superior dribbler and world class shooter...he doesnt drive bcoz he has a slight frame...altho whenever he drives good things almost always happens..(i guess he doesnt drive so he doesnt get injured)every yr he has something to prove...and this yr is his best opportunity to silence all his critics...i see him averaging 26 or 27 ppg (w/c would translate to 2000 plus total pts) and have a good assists and rebounds ave this yr...ray will most probably make all nba 3rd team...this is gonna be his finest season and i bet he adds something special to his game this season...

if he keeps playing for seattle he could have a 2000 point season because he is pretty much the only great scorer they have. unfortunately he probably won't get to the playoffs.
