That doesnt' sound like Testicular Cancer but I suggest that he visit a Doctor and get things look at. It might a cyst or a tumor of some sort and given the location, I would think he should get it examined by a Doc. I have pasted below the symptoms of Testicular Cancer. Please visit the website http://www.plwc.org for more information on Testicular Cancer. Click on Cancers, then the Letter T then on Testicular Cancer. This is a Fantastic Site.

Men with testicular cancer may experience the following symptoms. Sometimes, men with testicular cancer do not show any of these symptoms. Or, these symptoms may be similar to symptoms of other medical conditions. If you are concerned about a symptom on this list, please talk with your doctor.

The first sign of testicular cancer may be a small lump on the testicle, which often does not cause any pain. Other symptoms may go unnoticed until the cancer is advanced and has spread to other parts of the body. Regular testicular self-examinations and examinations by doctors can detect the cancer in its early stages when it is more likely to be successfully treated.

Symptoms of testicular cancer may include:
Painless lump or swelling on either testicle (If detected early, a testicular tumor may be about the size of a pea, but it can rapidly become the size of a marble or larger.)

Pain or discomfort with or without swelling in a testicle or scrotum. (This is the same symptom as an infection in the part of the testicle called the epididymis [the narrow tubes next to the testicles where sperm finish maturing]. If antibiotics do not resolve the problem, an evaluation for testicular cancer should be considered.)

Enlargement of a testicle or change in the way it feels

Feeling of heaviness in the scrotum

Dull ache in the lower abdomen or groin

Sudden buildup of fluid in the scrotum

Breast tenderness or growth (Although rare, breast tenderness or growth is due to the fact that some tumors produce hormones that affect breast development.)
Lower back pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, and bloody sputum can be symptoms of advanced testicular cancer.

Hope this information helps and Good luck to the both of you. Hope he is feeling better soon and that it is nothing serious. You two are in my thoughts, take Care~ :)
