I personally listen to classic rock , but if you were to follow this stereotype into other genres would we conclude that ALL that listen to heavy metal are satan worshipers? Or ALL that listen to hip-hop/rap are thugs and gangbangers? Or ALL that listen to musicals are homosexuals? See my point , ive always disliked that stereotype and think it is one of the worse ones out there , you cant let a small group of people give you a bad perspective on a whole demographic. Your thoughts

They're not racist...just country as hell. Some even call their selves rednecks and honkeys. Ask my roommate(he's from Goliad, TX, aka the middle of nowhere).
Country music has Southern roots, which coincidentally is where slavery took place. Therefore, bad rap.
Music just gives us another way to label people, something we love doing.

Because some people have closed minds. A lot of people just automatically assume that because someone listens to country, they are biggots and racists, even though that person may disagree with racism and just listen to country for the good messages they convey. That's part of the problem with people in our society today, constantly jump to conclusions before finding out all of the available information.

I don't generally classify people based on the music they listen to. And as for country equalling racist, I've never heard that. I myself listen to a wide range of music: rock, classic rock, alternative, jazz, musicals, classical, opera, swing, pop, pretty much everything. I guess I like to think that everyone can listen to a variety of tunes without it signifying something huge about their personality.

It appears that you have a good understanding and wide range of tolerance for music.
It's interesting how many hits were originally written in a different genre.
Did you know that "Have I Told You Lately", (Ala Elvis), was written as a waltz?
Artists rarely ever play a score as it was written.
Fats Domino was one of the greatest for doing that.
