I've been doing research on grad schools that offer military history and have found about 15 programs. Is there a "master list" of schools that offer this program or a ranking system to find out which program is the best? I'e been all over the web and have only found one such site and it's incomplete, but are there any books or magazines in print that will help with my search? Thanks! (Also, I'm not in the military, so please don't give me info on military schools because I won't be able to apply to those.)

Have you looked into professional organizations for military historians? The link below is a list of grad programs from the Society for Military History. From there, you might find faculty who share your research interests and either look into their programs or the ones they graduated from.

Forget the the big names. The best scholars and most dynamic faculty in military history are at Southern Miss.
