No, studies have shown that it has no real effect. However, it is still good music, and the baby should still be exposed to it. It should be exposed to all sorts of good music, and not just classical music. They should learn to be well rounded.

Almost any music can enhance a baby or child's mental ability. In fact, it is less about content, and more about having a stimulating influence.
In my opinion, the only type of music which can be detrimental to a child's mental development is the mass produced, nonsensical kiddie songs. The influences given to a child at any age helps them to understand what is expected of them. If you babble to a baby, they will try to babble back. If you speak to a baby, they will try to speak back.
