I don't have cable, but for some reason, I still get a bunch of religious channels. (YUCK!) Occasionally, when I'm channel-surfing, I'll come across a movie on one of those channels. The movies are always poorly directed and have s**tty acting. However, I'll occasionally sit through one for a few minutes, since they're always good for a laugh.

When I talk about lousy "Christian" movies, I mainly refer to the low-budget ones that are shown on religious channels. I don't include movies like "The Passion of the Christ", though I have to say that I laughed out loud in the theater when I saw the scene with Satan and the evil baby. What the hell was THAT about?

The same reason that horror-core movies are so lousy. They're mostly low-budget B-movie, cliche' crap. No thought process, no good visuals and no web.

They aren't invariably crummy, you know. But you have to know which ones to look for. Cloud Ten Productions has a number of good ones, with good actors.
I personally think the reason so many of them are so underwhelming is that they try so hard to get the scriptural story right--or to get the point across--they forget that that it's supposed to be enjoyable, also.
Then again, you're generalizing. The Passion of Christ was a Christian film, and I dare you to claim you were bored or amused watching that.

Most of the money is donated to fund those projects, and most of the actors are volunteers. They don't have the resources to have special effects or to cut scene after scene. I agree, they are horrible movies by movie standards, but I don't think that's what is important to Christian networks.
