saying whenever he heard the sound of a solo violin, or "fiddle" he prefered to call them. Did anyone else's grandparent's use colourful metaphor's?

If a bloke left the toilet door open and you could hear him weeing, my Nana would say "He sound's like the store's horse" refering to the horse that pulled the cart that delivered goods to the Co-op and would often wee outside it.

It's a simile, by the way.
How about, "she had a voice like a donkey giving birth to a hedgehog"

My Grandad always used to say "A man forced his pig and it died". Forced it to do what I shall never know...

And my Nan - "Open the windoiw and throw out your chest. I threw mine out and got it trod on"
