There's no evidence for the existence of any god or gods.

When I was young I had my mother's religion imposed upon me and I blindly accepted the faith. As I aged I began seeing glaring discrepancies in the foundations of my religion (Christian by the way), and began studying it more in depth. After becoming completely disgusted with Christianity and its hypocrisy, I began exploring other religions, but found no solace in them. For a while after that I maintained a spirituality but no religious affiliation. Eventually I realized that belief in God was just an excuse to give ones self meaning in life. I decided I would give my own life meaning and didn't need some all powerful deity to do it. This is why I don't really like to argue religion, I hold no grudges and see nothing wrong with other people having faith, in part I'm glad they see something to believe in, it just didn't work for me.

I am not athiest per se. I do have a problem with people who say God saved/helped/spared tham while others died, etc. What makes them more worthy of God's favor? Why would God care to micro-manage His/Her creation? To me, writing off a bad thing by saying it's God's will or part of God's plan is a cop-out designed to make people feel better. Nobody really knows if that is true. At best, it's a matter of faith/belief.

For the same reason I don't believe in Santa or the Tooth Fairy: there is no evidence of their existence, no philosophical or scientific need for their existence, accepting their existence would violate the rules of logic, and you fall into paradoxes if you posit their existence as a possibility.

For the same reason that you don't believe in Zeus, Odin, or Ra.

Honestly.
