good taste my friend. Obviously you are my type of guy, a man that loved old school basketball. Here is how my list would go (keep in mind I am a big time Rockets fan, and Hakeem is king in Houston)

Starters
1. Hakeem :best center of all time, hands down, don't even counter argue Shaq, give me 350 lbs, and 7 feet on my frame and I would've been a far better ball player than Shaq. Shaq's game does not exist outside .5 inches from the rim, he doesn't even know how to shoot a free throw, and his defense is abysmal
2. Clyde: GREAT SELECTION OVER MJ! honestly, Clyde is the most ORIGINAL and creative player the NBA has ever seen. you clearly have a taste for bball. Clyde's shot, movements, dribbling, fingerrolls, everything was prettier than Jordan. Although Jordan was a better winner, but that's not what we're grading here.
3. Duncan: my favorite PF of all time. He has the game of Karl Malone, only with the know-how of how to get his teammates to respond. His quiet demeanor and silent killer instinct puts him above Karl Malone as the best PF in the last 20 years
4. Kidd :another great selection. Probably the best true PG to play the game since Pistol Pete Maravich, yes I'm 19, but I know who that is!
5. Magic: I wasn't a great fan of Magic, but he created the SF position. Magic was one of the most unique and versatile players ever. However, I don't like how his charisma overshadows Kareem's skill. Kareem was the better player, but magic gets the praise
Bench
6. Hill: it's too bad his career is being hampered by his injury problems. Hill was a fantastic player in the day and one of the best college players in recent memory.
7. Kemp :interesting choice...gave PF's a new meaning in the NBA. His throw-it down attitude and ability to run the floor while guarding any position other than PG made him a beast on the floor. He is a big contributor to Gary Payton's success, but you won't find Payton admitting it.
8. Robinson: Frankly, I think David Robinson was an overrated player. Don't get me wrong, he was great as a player, but his game wasn't as fun as Hakeem's. I like him far better than the other centers because of his approach to the game, he was a hard worker and kept his cool on the court.

well i think you need to know a little more about nba history. although the players you have chosen are top notch when you are talking about the best you need to look at the whole package.

center: Bill Russell was the best. 11 championships in 13 seasons as a pro is just the beginning. Russell was the ultimate team player. A shot blocker like no other, a tremendous rebounder, and can score points when needed. I would pick him even over Jabbar, Chamberlain or any other center who ever played

power forward: Larry Bird. The consummate professional who could do almost anything from offense to defense. Not bad in rebounding as well

small forward: Elgin Baylor. You need a prolific scorer in this position and Elgin could light it up with the best of them. His moves to the basket were a thing of beauty

shooting guard: Michael Jordan. A proven winner and anyone who doesnt name him as on of the best list is out of their mind.

point guard: Magic Johnson. Although I would rank Bob Cousy high up there with all point guards, Magic's size and ability makes him the best player for this position.

Of course you didnt say the best in your question but instead asked your favorite so your choices are more emotional rather than analytical.

So from best to worst of your choices i'lll go: Magic, hakeem, duncan, Kemp, Robinson, Kidd, Drexler, and Hill. My starters would be Hakeem at center, Duncan at power forward, Hill at small forward, drexler at shooting guard, and of course magic at point.

ps. kudos for wiseone for knowing about pistol pete maravich. the pistol was my favorite player of all time and such a joy to warch him play. But he misses my best list because he was not a very good defensive player
