Excellent question. I think it is a product of being brought up in an age of rampant materialism, where mom and dad never let them work for anything and schools never made them earn praise.
If someone has no education on the value of things, then they will not see that everything has a cost.

I personally feel the world owes me everything because I heard the "Indians get everything for free" all my life from people who found everything they exploit right here on " Turtle island " and what do we see? someone has started to believe their own bullsp*t and leaves the natives with the old " Why dont you just go get a job " answer or in my case " You should read the bible."Well I have done both just to hear how god hates all of us except the blameless and had to hear how drunk my ancestors were at work every ***'n day. How lazy I was...and boy did you guys pick the wrong monkey to pick on...let me tell you, if you give a caged monkey a bananna, he is either going to stick it up his *** or flip it backwards and pretend he's the best sneetch on the beach. " No stars on thars " just having a feast over a "Y " shaped stick and slaughtered OX who has raised himself to level of deity.

Because they are educated by people called Liberals. These people want everyone to think and believe that society owe them and should provide for them. This way the Libeerals can take everything away from the people and then provide what the believe the people need. This gives Liberals the Power and Control over others they so desparately Desire.
IT IS CALLED COMMUNISM!!!!!!

Some people do not have or wish to develop a social consciousness. Therefore they think the world and all that happens revolve around them alone and that they are superior to everyone else. They feel entitled to anything they desire. They scream the loudest when their perceptions are dashed by the reality that they are a little cog in a big machine, and that the world does NOT show them preferential treatment.

Not everyone does feel that way. There are many who are taught that the world doesn't owe them a thing, and that its up to you to make your way in the world...a very American idea. But, as Oddball points out, there are these "others" who want a pointless welfare state that denies personal achievement, forbids improving your station in life by your own efforts, and insists that you believe in this "one for and all for one" "diversity is wonderful" crap.
Given how solidly they lose elections, you think they'd have learned by now.

Because they're lazy and because the welfare system and other programs make it possible. I think we should get to chose which programs tax dollars support... because if I had a choice a lot of people would suddenly find it in their best interest to get a job and pay for their own rent and groceries like the rest of the world.

What people? I want names! The world owes me everything. Nobody better try to get a piece of the action. It's mine, all mine. Mine, mine, mine.

Because these people are lazy and would prefer not to work for what they want. They don't put effort into their goals and fail time after time while wondering why.
