yes its a common thing and the reason it does that is because you are sticking it in too far. q-tips are only meant to clean the outside and inner crease parts of the ear.

I have never heard of this before. Doesn't do anything to me. Or anyone else I know. I'd say a nerve ending in your ear is close to a nerve ending that makes you cough or gag.

Never had this experience. However the ears and sinus/throat are all connected so maybe you are some how messing with your gag reflex

Wow! I thought that only happened to me! I asked my friend about that and she told me she has it too and her doctor said that your ears have to do with your brains balance. Everytime my friend has an ear infection, she gets dizzy.

Well, it may NOT be just you - but I have NEVER heard of that before, and never happend to me, and I clean my ears with Q tips.

its too wierd, and the ear isnt used to it. maybe the acupuncture points in the ear "freak out" when they feel something funny. When we went camping, my mom got a mosquito stuck in her ear, and it almost drove her crazy, so ....ya.

yeah...I've never hear of that either. I actually LOVE using q-tips for me ear...weird I know...but I like it.
