Um, DSL and USB are worlds apart. USB isn't even a form of internet. DSL is basically the same as dial-up but it upgrades your phone line and adds a faster modem so you can go online with improved speed. USB allows your computer to connect with devices like mp3 players, cameras, flash drivers, and more.

DSL is a kind of broadband web access. There's dial-up (slowest), DSL (slowest broadband), then cable and T1 internet connections (fastest). You choose which one you want from your ISP. I don't know what the individual letters stand for.
USB is a kind of connection for your computer. Usually, peripheral equipment that you might want to plug into your computer, like a scanner or printer or cd burner or mp3 player, uses a USB connection. Some people call it 'plug and play'. USB is local to your computer and doesn't really have anything to do with the web. USB stands for (I think) Universal Serial Bus ... someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
The two terms are not related, except to the extent that they both pertain to computers.
Hope this helps :)

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. It is a method of sending digital information over a telephone line, using frequencies which are higher than those used for voice conversation. At some interconnection point, the telephone company moves the information between the telephone line and a high speed channel connected to the rest of the Internet. At your home, the digital information is converted by a modem into Ethernet format, which is fed into your computer through an Ethernet (or network interconnect) port.
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. It is a standard means of connecting devices such as printers, scanners, cameras, etc. to a computer.

USB is hardware and can be used as a means to connect, like a NIC card. It has nothing to do with DSL which is a service you pay the phone company for.

DSL is a type of internet, USB is a port you can plug things into on your computer. You use DSL (it's another form of internet such as Dialup) to connect to the internet, you use the USB to connect external programs and such to your computer, like your digital camera, printer, etc.
